Schedule and Speakers are live!

We are tremendously excited about our WordCamp PDX 2017 sessions and speakers!

You can now see the schedule here, and the speakers here.

We’ll have two tracks:

The Willamette Track includes sessions of general interest with little-to-no coding knowledge assumed. All of these sessions will take place in Council Chamber.

The Columbia Track includes content geared towards beginning-to-advanced developers, in many cases assuming some coding familiarity.  These sessions will take place in Stamm.

We’re looking very forward to seeing you!

Final Call for Speakers

We’re approaching the deadline for speaker applications, so if you’re interested in speaking at WordCamp Portland on September 23, please apply soon! After August 1, we will be making our final decision on who will be speaking at the event.

We will have standard length presentations (30-45 minutes) as well as lightning talks (approximately 5 minutes each). If you have multiple ideas for topics, you are welcome to send in a separate application for each one.

You can read more information and apply here.

How should I pack for WordCamp?

This may be your first or hundredth WordCamp.

Many wonder what to bring. For your convenience, here’s a quick list:

  • Business cards – WordCamps are great opportunities to connect with people you’ll want to follow up with.
  • Cell phone – good for taking pictures of schedules, slides, and taking notes.
  • Cell phone battery – while some outlets will be available for charging, a battery means you can charge on the go and where outlets are occupied.
  • Small notebook and pen/pencil – remember, however, that most slides and other content are made available online during or after WordCamp
  • Water bottle and/or travel mug – help save the environment and reduce WordCamp waste!
  • Portland in the autumn… Having a rain jacket handy can’t hurt. 🙂
  • Collapsible Chico or other reusable bag – great for swag.
