Lunch Option: Birds of a Feather

This year, we’re offering the opportunity to engage in conversation around a specific topic during lunch with Birds of a Feather gatherings.  These provide opportunity to dive deeper by meeting with others with similar interests. They are by no means compulsory – you’re welcome to have a more free-form lunch wherever and with whomever you choose.

To join a BoF discussion, just pick up your lunch and show up at the topic location – if one you choose is full, just find a different one. Some of the gatherings will have Featured Experts, who our speaker team has identified as people who, in addition to our session speakers, can lend extensive insight into a topic and who can recommend resources.

Other gatherings are more free-form discussion, featuring the questions and answers of fellow attendees and no appointed expert.  Please use this as a forum to engage in discussion, Q&A’s, trade resources, and network.

Check back on the Session Page for location information on the day of the event.

Birds of A Feather Topics:

Accessibility: Featured Expert: David Zulaica

Business Development:   Featured Expert: Devra Polack

Blogging Content Tips:  Featured Expert: Eric Mann

Educational Technology: Featured Expert:  Melissa Lim

The Future of WordPress – Diversity:  General Discussion

Search Engine Optimization: General Discussion

Keep in mind that the Featured Experts are not moderators, per se.  The lunch gathering will only be as productive as the attendees make it, so you may want to use the following ideas to get the discussion started, especially if you are in a gathering without a featured expert:

— Introduce yourself to others in  your room, and tell why you find the topic interesting.

— Ask: what’s your favorite tool to accomplish x?

— Ask: what’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced in trying to do x?

— Ask and tell: what resources have you found most valuable in learning x?

Have fun!
